HOW XRACE WORKS

SCROLL DOWN

HOW XRACE WORKS

XRACE is a mystery adventure race with a twist - teams must be a parent and child racing together side-by-side. Each family team must work together - complete 10 mystery challenges, racing the clock and all the other family teams with the fastest and luckiest family team crowned XRACE champion.

NONE THE SAME

NONE THE SAME

No two XRACES are the same. If there's a pool, we use it. If there's a cross-able creek, we cross it. If there's a hill we climb it. If it rains on race day, we all get wet.

Our feedback tells us - "don't hold back."

TEAMS

TEAMS

XRACE teams are made up of a parent and child aged 6-14, dad or mum, son or daughter. Teams start together, race the course together challenging other family teams - completing all challenges and crossing their magical finish line - side-by-side.

  • 58% of teams are made up of dads as team "navigator"
  • 39% of teams, mum leads
  • 3% are grandparents, uncles or aunties or trusted family friends.

What's important is that no child misses out. Family is family.

CHALLENGES

CHALLENGES

XRACE isn't about the fastest and the fittest. This isn't a running race.

Teams must complete 10 different challenges from physical like Tug O War to Mental like puzzle solving to trust building like the Blindfold Challenge.

It's the Amazing Race meets Monopoly where families are the pieces of the puzzle.

A typical XRACE course covers around 3-4 kms of total distance. Teams can choose to go flat out or walk or jog between challenges.

Teams can lose all the time they gained between challenges because dad didn't know the theme to SHREK. Do you? Here's the music challenge from our 2015 series.

SPORTSMANSHIP

SPORTSMANSHIP

XRACE is a race with winners and losers. First and last.

Teams race in age-groups. 8 year-old boys race all other 8 year-old boys; 11 year-old girls race other 11 year-old girls but only one team can be crowned XRACE Champions.

Families love the balance of fun and competition. 88% either liked or strongly liked having an age-group competition. There's more to lifting an XRACE trophy than being the swiftest team in the start house.
